Family Game Night
I thought I would focus on a game that is not only fun, but a therapy session at the same time! The Sneaky, Snacky, Squirrel Game (say that three times fast!) is a game that I purchased over a year ago, that is still requested at least three times a week to be played.
The game has almost 2,000 reviews on Amazon and is rated with 4.7 stars. Once you play the game once, you will see why. You can Purchase it here! It is geared for children 3 and up. The game comes boxed in a sturdy container, where the bottom of the box serves as the tree full of acorns. It includes acorns in a variety of colors, and four tree stumps that are used for collecting acorns. The best part of this game, from a therapy aspect, are the squirrel shaped tweezers! These are used to pick up the acorn landed on after spinning.
This squirrel squeezer is so adorable, the kiddos are so excited when it is their turn to use them. At first, these were very challenging for my Sophia, but with time and practice, she has improved her hand strength. Her fine motor skills are really lacking, so any activity that is fun, and forces her to use these muscles, is a complete win!
There are so many skills taught while playing this game:
- Color Recognition
- Taking Turns
- Strategic Thinking
- Good Sportsmanship (when another player can still acorns! We are still working on this!)
- Hand/Eye coordination
- Fine Motor (YEA!)
If you are looking for a fun game that allows your child to work on some fine motor skills, as well as early learning, check out the Sneaky, Snacky, Squirrel Game! It will definitly be a game the family can enjoy for several years!
